Similar to the model used by Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic, Koote-
nai Clinic physicians are employed by the hospital. Together, the hospital
administration and a group of physician leaders oversee business opera-
tions at the clinics. The leadership model helps each practice learn
from its peers, share ideas and implement best practices throughout the
Clinic.
“When you can bring multiple practices and disciplines to one location,
it helps patients navigate through their care,” Walt Fairfax, M.D., Koote-
nai Health Chief Medical Officer, said. “It also decreases delays between
appointments. Having all of your specialists in the same location and
under the same organization allows for more collaboration and transition
of care.”
Kootenai Clinic brings a new vision for the future of medicine to
northern Idaho. It is a proactive approach designed to keep patients—
and the community—healthy and strong.
