Women’s and Children’s Services
at Kootenai Health
are growing—rapidly. In fact, the birthing center,
special care nursery, pediatric and family care areas
are all looking at growing in technology and services.
This is why the Kootenai Health Foundation’s 2013
Festival of Trees will benefit Women’s and Children’s
services at Kootenai Health.
Women’s
and
Services
Children’
Women’s and Children’s Services includes:
◗
The birthing center, which provides care for preg-
nant women needing hospital care for labor and birth,
pregnancy complications and postpartum recovery
◗
The special care nursery (NICU), which provides care
for babies who are born prematurely (as early as 32
weeks’ gestation) or need special medical care after birth
◗
Pediatrics and family care, which provide general
care for children up to 16 years of age
“The beginning of a new life is incredibly special,”
said Lori Schneider, director of Women’s and Children’s
Services. “A woman carries the memories and details
of the birth of her child throughout her entire life. It’s
important to provide a place where families can come
together and support each other through birth, disease
or crisis. This extends to children as well. It’s every
parent’s worst nightmare to hear that their child has an
illness or condition requiring a stay in the hospital. Our
goal is to provide a place where children and families
can feel safe, welcome and supported.”
