The 25th annual Festival of Trees is fast
approaching, and I can’t think of a more ap-
propriate cause for this silver anniversary than
women’s and children’s services.
Thanks to the generous donors at last year’s
Festival of Trees and our dedicated staff,
Kootenai Health’s neonatal special care nursery
is now a reality. This year, we are hoping to
expand those services again to ensure every
woman, baby and child can receive the care
they need close to home.
In celebration of this year’s milestone Festival
of Trees, we also thought it would be fun to catch up with some of our
previous Festival of Trees spokespeople. By opening their hearts and
sharing their stories, they helped us all see the need for children’s re-
habilitation, enhanced cancer care, emergency services, a heart rhythm
program and neonatology. In this issue of
Kootenai Health
magazine,
you’ll learn where they are today, how sharing their stories helped
improve care in our community and what being a spokesperson for the
Festival of Trees meant to them.
I hope you’ll take time to read about the McVey family (page 8), Jack
Yuditsky and Tom Richards (pages 10 and 11), Jim Morrison (page 12),
young Anthony Rankin (page 14), and Dave Miller (page 15). I think you
will agree that their stories, and the story they have helped us create at
Kootenai, is as important now as it was then.
