Teton Valley, Idaho; born and

Married to Ledeen Snyder
Why did you choose your specialty?
I wanted to
practice a full spectrum of medicine for the whole
family and be able to follow them from cradle to
grave. I also wanted to practice in a rural setting,
and this seemed the most logical choice. I have not
regretted my choice at all.
What are some of your hobbies?
Bicycle riding,
golf, skiing and boating. I also enjoy reading and
studying the Word of God.
What drew you to northern Idaho/Kootenai?
I was drawn to northern Idaho after visiting friends
who lived here. This is a beautiful area and my
family and I really enjoy the variety of activities
that are available to us.

Married to Connie Smith
Why did you choose your specialty?
The explo-
sion in technology involving cardiac care started
in the late ’80s, when I was in internal medicine
training. Thrombolytics, balloon angioplasty and
fancy pacemakers were just coming on the scene,
and they allowed cardiologists to practice a type of
exciting interventional medicine that most internists
couldn’t. I had a really bright young mentor in the
cardiology department, and wanted, basically, to
be like him.
What are some of your hobbies?
Connie and I
enjoy the usual outdoor pursuits: running, hiking,
cycling and skiing.
What drew you to northern Idaho and Koote-
nai?
We wanted to focus on opportunities in the
Northwest. The group of cardiologists here is com-
mitted to professional excellence as well as being
well-rounded, genuinely good people. The way
the hospital administration and the docs set up
the cardiac program at Kootenai was brilliant, and
Coeur d’Alene, of course, sells itself. We feel very
lucky for the opportunity to play a role here.
