JeremiahWright, NP Kootenai Clinic Hospital Medicine Tell us a little bit about you and your family: I am married to a wonderful woman and had the privilege of spending the last six months as a stay-at-home dad with our now 18-month-old girl. Why did you pick your specialty? Having worked in hospitals for the past decade, I always had a special appreciation for the hospital medicine and intensive care providers. I enjoy the seemingly endless challenge of both specialties and jumped at the opportunity to start my medical practice with the adult hospital medicine service in Seattle. What can patients expect when they first meet with you? When I care for patients in the hospital, they can expect me to be honest, caring and committed to providing the best care possible. I always strive to listen well, approach each individual with positive regard, and to help my patients understand their diagnoses and treatment options. They can also expect that I will work collaboratively with the entire care team to help coordinate their recovery and ongoing care after discharge. What are some of your hobbies? I’m an avid hiker and backpacker, and I have often enjoyed trail running, swimming and mountaineering. What drew you to Kootenai Health? The hospital’s excellent reputation as a respected community hospital is what primarily drew my attention to Kootenai. After working with one of the big conglomerates, I welcomed the opportunity to get back to service as part of a smaller, nonprofit community system. What is your favorite healthy tip? Remembering my actions and behavior in the present day determines my health and character tomorrow, helps me to stay motivated and generally live a healthier lifestyle. It’s a real challenge sometimes— especially with young children—but well worth the mental focus. I recommend that people find activities they enjoy and that they add a little variety if they are feeling uninspired.
