Bucklee Eller, APRN Kootenai Clinic Orthopedics Tell us a little bit about you and your family: I am married and have four awesome daughters, ages 3 to 11. We have lived in the Spokane area for the past 12 years. I was a pediatric registered nurse for 10 years prior to becoming a nurse practitioner. Why did you pick your specialty? Since entering the health care field, I have been interested in practicing medicine in a surgical practice. I enjoy helping fix patients’ problems so they can improve their lives. What can patients expect when they show up for their first appointment with you? I love to meet new people and I am interested in hearing people’s stories. In orthopedics, we can fix injuries and get people back to what they enjoy. I love being able to do that. What are some of your hobbies? I enjoy traveling, backpacking, mountain climbing and learning new languages. One of my most memorable experiences was the opportunity to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa, and getting caught in a snow storm. What drew you to Kootenai Health? Outstanding providers that work with an orthopedic program that is known for excellence. What is your favorite healthy tip? Make time every day to exercise. Make it fun for you and your family, and make it a part of your culture and way of life so that it is not a chore. To schedule an appointment, call (208) 625-6700 . Jennifer Garwick, M.D. Kootenai Clinic Hospital Medicine Tell us a little bit about you and your family: I am originally from Alaska and have been practicing in northern Idaho since I completed my residency in 2004. I am married with two daughters, both in elementary school. Why did you pick your specialty? I was family medicine trained, as I love taking care of the entire family from birth to death. I transitioned to hospital medicine in 2009 when a set schedule without call became the best way to balance my family responsibilities. What can patients expect when they first meet with you? I always try to be present and empathetic, with a goal to provide the best care possible for each patient. What are some of your hobbies? I enjoy family time—these days, it’s driving my girls to all sorts of extracurricular activities. I also enjoy travel, gardening and outdoor recreation. We have three doodle dogs and two black cats, and this spring we got four baby chicks. What drew you to Kootenai Health? Kootenai Health feels like home. It’s community- based and not an overly large company where employees feel like just a number. It was important to me to return to the community I live in to work. What is your favorite healthy tip? Everything in moderation. KH . ORG 11
