Me e t o u r n ew p r ov i d e r s Mitchell Elting, M.D. Kootenai Clinic Family Medicine Tell us a little bit about you and your family: I am originally from a small town in Illinois and went to medical school in Kansas City before moving to Coeur d’Alene for residency at Kootenai Clinic Family Medicine. I have a wife, Lesli, and two kids, Addison, age 2, and Beckett, 4 months. Why did you pick your specialty? I really enjoy the continuity with patients that comes with family medicine, and I have always enjoyed the broad scope of care that family physicians can provide to their patients. What can patients expect when they first meet with you? My patients can expect someone who wants to get to know them beyond their medical issues. I care about the whole person and the other factors of their life outside of pure medical concerns. What are some of your hobbies? Outside of work, I like hiking, biking, fishing, running and weight training. What drew you to Kootenai Health? I was drawn to the residency program initially after doing a rotation here in the summer of 2016. I was very impressed with the educational experience and the friendly faculty and staff that welcomed me to the area like I had been there for years. The natural beauty of the area and the abundance of outdoor activity opportunities sealed the deal. What is your favorite healthy tip? Keep moving! The health benefits from even a short, 30-minute walk daily can be life-changing. To schedule an appointment, call (208) 625-3500 . Casey Cotant, M.D., FASN Kootenai Clinic Nephrology, Kidney and Hypertension Tell us a little bit about you and your family: I have been married for 22 years to an amazingly supportive and talented wife. We have two sons, ages 17 and 10, and one daughter, who is 13. We enjoy spending quality time together and staying active, whether it is hiking, skiing, biking or just playing in the yard. Why did you pick your specialty? During my medical school and residency training, I found kidney physiology and disorders to be intriguing, and the patients with kidney disease that I was able to care for have been inspiring to me. I enjoy the long- term relationships I am able to develop with my patients, as well as the opportunity to interact with wonderful physicians from varying specialties. What can patients expect when they first meet with you? Warmth, compassion, hard work, thoroughness and to be treated as I would want to be treated myself. What are some of your hobbies? I enjoy hiking, road biking, mountain biking, skiing and reading. What drew you to Kootenai Health? The vision of the institution, exemplary medical care, positive physician culture and the beauty of northern Idaho. What is your favorite healthy tip? Besides eating a healthy diet and staying active, the Italian practice of passeggiata , which is taking a regular evening walk, is highly recommended!
