10 Spencer Helsell,M.D. Child psychiatry, Kootenai Clinic Psychiatry Tell us a little bit about you and your family: I was born and raised in Seattle, where my family still resides. I lived in the great state of New Mexico for many years and am now very happy to be back in the Northwest. I have two beautiful children who are grown. Both are studying in university and pursuing their different goals. Why did you pick your specialty? I was drawn to both psychology and the practice of medicine in the care of children early in my training. Thus, child psychiatry has been the perfect fit for me. What can patients expect when they first meet with you? I’m an attentive listener with my patients. I have learned over the years that spending a very thorough amount of time in the initial evaluation is essential for me to provide the best care. What are some of your hobbies? I studied martial arts for many years, I am a writer and I love to travel. What drew you to Kootenai Health? Kootenai Health seemed like a great fit for me, given the warm and extremely competent staff and its dedication to serving the needs of the community. What is your favorite healthy tip? Make certain you get a full night’s sleep! To schedule an appointment, call (208) 625-4888 . PamelaPomeroy, ANP-C, AGACNP-BC Surgical services, Pre-Op Clinic Tell us a little bit about you and your family: I lived my entire life in Arizona until moving to Sagle in October with my significant other, Greg, and our two geriatric dogs. Between the two of us, we have five children ranging in ages from 18 to 33 years old. Unfortunately, our kids are spread out between Arizona, California and Arkansas. Why did you pick your specialty? I have spent the majority of my career taking care of people after surgery and always wished I could have helped with preoperative education and getting people “tuned up” for surgery. Now in the Pre-Operative Clinic, I have that opportunity. What can patients expect when they first meet with you? I will typically only get one meeting with most people, so I have a big task of getting to know people in a very short period of time. Patients can expect me to be focused on details while being aware and sensitive to concerns about their operative process. I love the opportunity to answer questions. What are some of your hobbies? I am very excited to experience the four seasons! My new list of hobbies includes just about anything outdoors—hiking, snowshoeing, snow skiing, water skiing, kayaking, paddle boarding and learning all about northern Idaho. What drew you to Kootenai Health? The beautiful area initially drew me here, along with great reviews from friends in the community about Kootenai Health being a great organization. Once I started interviewing with various people, I knew this was the place I wanted to be. There is a fantastic mix of patient and employee satisfaction. What is your favorite healthy tip? Love yourself so others can love you. Me e t o u r n ew p r ov i d e r s
