Cliff Hampton, M.D., is Kootenai’s first epileptologist. He is looking forward to expanding care and support services for epilepsy patients in our region. He is pictured here with one of his patients, Cleopatra Lewis. it happen. I want to make sure we’re working toward treating those patients here and raising the standard of care we can provide.” Space for this will be included in the 3 East hospital expansion (see page 5). Community support In addition to raising the level of care epilepsy patients receive at the hospital and neurology clinic, Dr. Hampton wants to revitalize the resources available to patients in the community. He plans to work with current patients to start a support group and is advocating for other resources as well. “It’s one thing to talk with your physician about the disease and treatment, but it’s also important for patients to talk with other people living with epilepsy,” Dr. Hampton said. “Having that group be more visible and present in our community would be a great resource for patients to connect with each other and know that they’re not alone in managing their disease.” KH .
