Kami Bowcut, PA-C, MPAS Kootenai Clinic General Surgery Tell us a little bit about you and your family. My husband and I are originally from Declo, Idaho. We moved here for work and because we enjoy the area. Why did you pick your specialty? Surgery always appealed to me. I enjoy hands-on work and trained with the Kootenai General Surgery group when I was a student. I was very happy to get hired to work with them after graduating. What can patients expect when they show up for their first appointment with you? I always try to be very approachable and kind to everyone. It is important to me that patients stay informed and understand their medical course throughout the entire process. What are some of your hobbies? I enjoy playing with my animals, trying new sushi, and hiking new trails. What drew you to Kootenai Health? We really enjoy the panhandle area, and I appreciate the Kootenai Health culture. It is a very welcoming, upbeat organization. What is your favorite healthy tip? Always eat more veggies. To learn more or schedule an appointment with Kami, call (208) 625-5200 . David Tullar, PA-C, MPAS Kootenai Clinic Neurology Tell us a little bit about you and your family. Most of my family is in the Northwest, which prompted my return to this part of the country. Why did you pick your specialty? I have always had an interest in neuroscience. I was contemplating whether to complete a Ph.D. in neuroscience or pursue a clinical pathway. I was particularly interested in the team aspect of delivering health care and how we can improve quality and access and reduce cost. I have also been very involved in the administrative side of quality and health care delivery. What can patients expect when they show up for their first appointment with you? Clarity—to me it is so important that patients and families know what is going on, what is being done and why. What are some of your hobbies? Fly fishing, running, cycling, and adventures in the mountains. I am also trying to make a return to downhill skiing after almost 30 years. What drew you to Kootenai Health? Location mostly. I was also attracted to the mission of Kootenai Health—that we are here for the community. I believe in a very collaborative approach to health care. There is so much need out there, and no one organization can do it all. What is your favorite healthy tip? Consistency—there are many healthy things we can do. The problem is we often do it for a bit of time and stop. Then we might jump to another plan. Find what is healthy and doable and be consistent with that. This applies to diet, exercise, relaxation, relationships, and more. To learn more or schedule an appointment with David, call (208) 625-5100 . KH . ORG 11
