Kootenai | Kootenai Health | Issue 4, 2017
By Andrea Nagel Because of our growing community and the increased needs of our patients and family, Kootenai Health is expanding services in northern Idaho. The hospital continues to see higher patient volumes. In response to this growing need, Kootenai built a $57 million, three-story hospital expansion which opened in 2016 and is now in the finishing stages of a $42.5 million project which includes the operating rooms, emergency department and related support departments. As northern Idaho’s largest community-owned, locally operated hospital, Kootenai’s mission is to meet the health care needs of our community’s family, friends and neighbors. To fulfill this mission, Kootenai is committed to grow- ing the hospital’s capacity to provide greater access to the very best care, right here at home. “The future of health care is changing, and community needs are growing,” said Julie Holt, Kootenai Health Foundation president. “That’s why we must do more. In 2015, the Foundation launched a campaign to raise $12.5 million in private investments for hospital improvements that directly benefit patient care. The community has generously supported this campaign, but we aren’t there yet.” The Festival of Trees, the Foundation’s largest event, will focus its efforts on the hospital’s expansion, with event proceeds benefiting the capital campaign. In addition to supporting the growth and development of hospital services, the Festival has also become a welcomed community tradition for families. “The Festival of Trees is one of the many great ways the community can get involved in supporting their hospital,” Julie said. “By making a gift to this campaign, you are investing not only in your health, but in the health and well-being of your loved ones and community.” GrowingOur Local HospitalTogether The Kootenai Health Foundation raises funds to help grow facilities and services Festival of Trees Events All events are held at the Coeur d’Alene Resort Convention Center.
