Tell us a little bit about you and your family: My wife and I were married in 2010, and we have two children, a 4-year-old son and an 18-month-old daughter. I grew up in the northern California Bay Area and my wife in Reno, Nevada. Since getting married we have lived in three countries (the U.S., England and Grenada), and four states (California, Nevada, Utah and Idaho). We love traveling, playing outside and spending time together. Why did you pick your specialty? I love being able to develop a long-term relationship with patients. I think that is the most rewarding part of medicine. In addition, I like the challenge of seeing a wide variety of patients and conditions from newborns to the elderly. I believe primary care is vitally important to the health of our community and fighting the epidemics of chronic disease that are plaguing us right now. What can patients expect when they show up for their first appointment with you? I want patients to feel comfortable and be able to trust me. I am an excellent listener and want to hear your story. Together we will discuss what is best for your health. I strive to keep up-to-date and provide the best evidence-backed treatments when possible. What are some of your hobbies? I really enjoy the outdoors, which is what attracted me to northern Idaho. I love to road bike in the summer and be on the slopes in the winter. It’s great just spending time with my family outdoors at the playground or out exploring this beautiful area together. What drew you to Kootenai Health? Kootenai is situated in an absolutely beautiful area of Idaho. The medical community is collaborative and looking to stay on the cutting edge of medical care. I also look forward to being part of a growing care system and helping to make positive changes for the community. What is your favorite healthy tip? Stay active! Find an activity you love so that exercise is a joy and not a chore. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Glenn, call (208) 625-5630 . David Glenn, M.D. Kootenai Clinic Family Medicine–Post Falls Tell us a little bit about you and your family: I am married to my beautiful and incredibly support- ive wife, Lisa. We have four very active boys ranging in age from 4 to 18. We are originally from the Portland/ Vancouver area. Why did you pick your specialty? Interventional cardiology is such an amazing field of medicine. It is often fast-paced, and we are frequently in a position to make an immediate impact on a patient’s life in a very short period. What can patients expect when they show up for their first appointment with you? When patients come to see me, I want them to feel comfortable and that they can tell me anything. I have found that when physicians have a collegial rapport with their patients, they are able to have a much more open and honest discussion about their health. I also want them to know that I am originally from the region and I have a vested interest in the community. What are some of your hobbies? My family and I are year-round outdoor enthusiasts. During the spring and summer months, we enjoy hiking, mountain biking and kayaking. Our two older boys are very competitive in lacrosse and soccer. During the winter months, we enjoy snowboarding. We are really excited to be back in the Northwest, where there are real mountains. What drew you to Kootenai Health? My wife and I were really impressed with how warm and welcoming my partners and their spouses were. I was also impressed with Kootenai’s tremendous growth and health care advances. Kootenai Health has evolved into an advanced medical center capable of providing complex cardiovascular care to this region. What is your favorite health tip? Just stay active! We are fortunate to live in an area with immediate access to the great outdoors. Hiking, biking, skiing, swimming and kayaking are all just a short drive away.
