Mark Troiano, D.O. Kootenai Heart Clinics Tell us a bit about you and your family: I come from a large tight-knit family in the New York area. I'm very close to them, though my siblings and I have spread out across the country. I'm also the proud papa of a vizsla dog named Barley. Why did you pick your specialty? I love the satisfaction of being able to do something positive for someone and seeing an immediate impact. I'm someone who enjoys challenges. Luckily, my work has plenty to keep me busy every day. What can patients expect when they first meet you? They will find someone who connects with other people and who will meet them with respect, honesty and empathy. What are some of your hobbies? I love skiing, biking, cooking, home brewing and spending time outdoors with my family and friends. What drew you to Kootenai Health? I wanted to be part of a community that enjoys a lot of the same things I do, in a spectacular part of the country. What is your favorite healthy tip? Keep moving and have fun. Physical activity is great for your body, mind and spirit. Schedule an appointment: Call (208) 625-5250 . Rachel White, NP Kootenai Clinic Lung and Asthma Tell us a bit about you and your family: I work in the ICU. My husband and I recently relocated to the Pacific Northwest from Anchorage to start a fresh adventure. We lived in Alaska for about 12 years, where we raised our three kids who are all now off starting their own lives. We relocated to be closer to family who also reside in the area. My husband is also in the medical community as a flight nurse. We look forward to being able to help/serve our community. Why did you pick your specialty? As cheesy as it sounds, critical care picked me. From my inception into health care, I knew I was always going to be in some form of critical care, because I am passionate about caring for people in their most vulnerable moments. What can patients expect when they first meet with you? You can expect me to sit down and hear your story. I prefer to know you as a whole person, so I can best take care of your acute needs. I truly believe that interconnection improves care and outcomes, so expect a great listener. What are some of your hobbies? Some of my absolute favorites are triathlons and traveling, although the past 18 months have challenged us to develop some new hobbies with the changes brought on by the pandemic. I have learned many new skills during the pandemic—mostly in the setting of remodeling our home! What drew you to Kootenai Health? Kootenai is filled with wonderful individuals who are so inviting and passionate about delivering exceptional health care to the community. After meeting with the critical care team and hearing their passion, I knew this was something I needed to be a part of. What is your favorite healthy tip? We all know and have been told exercise is essential to our healthy lives, but finding a way to keep it fun can be challenging. Find the motivator for you, whether it’s larger events for cheering and support, or taking some personal time on a run/walk and enjoying nature. Add in audiobooks or good tunes to help out. No matter the motivation, movement is key. Schedule an appointment: Call (208) 625-3555 . KH . ORG 15
