20 The Kootenai Health Foundation is fundraising $1.6 million to purchase a second daVinci surgical robot. This revolutionary and minimally invasive technology enables surgeons to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures. Adding a second daVinci robot will increase access to necessary surgical services in our region. On May 3, the Kootenai Health Foundation hosted an exhibition event for staff and visitors. A daVinci robot was available for demonstration, and participants had the opportunity to learn firsthand about robotic services at Kootenai Health. In addition to the exhibition event, the 30 th Annual Kootenai Health Foundation Golf Tournament benefited the Foundation’s robotics Kootenai Health Foundation Seeking Community Support for Robotic Surgery Participants at the Kootenai Health Foundation’s donor reception learn about the daVinci surgical robot. campaign and helped spread awareness. “We are so grateful to our community members for their continued support,” said Julie Holt, Kootenai Health Foundation president. “Together, we raised over $64,000 at our annual golf tournament. And we’ve received over $400,000 in gifts from individuals. It’s a wonderful start to our fundraising efforts, but we still have a ways to go in order to meet our goal. For years, Kootenai has been at the forefront of robotic surgery, and we want to continue to bring that level of care and technology to our patients.” Patients who are candidates for robotic surgery typically experience less pain, less downtime, less scarring and less discomfort than patients recovering from traditional surgery methods. Specialty services that use the daVinci Surgical System include: • Cardiology • Gynecology • General surgery • Urology To help care for the growing number of patients across the region while still providing the personalized, award-winning care our patients expect, the Foundation is looking to our community for support. If you’re interested in helping to grow robotic surgery services at Kootenai or wish to make a gift to another area of the hospital, please call the Foundation at (208) 625-4438 or email foundation@kh.org .
