Healthgrades Specialty Excellence Awards recognize hospitals with superior performance in specific specialty lines and focus areas. For example, from 2017 through 2019, patients treated at hospitals receiving the Cardiac Surgery Specialty Excellence Award were found to have better outcomes than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award. “The importance of hospital quality is top of mind, as people are becoming more aware of the differences of care provided by different hospitals. Patients can feel confident knowing that hospitals like Kootenai Health that are recognized for their performance in cardiac surgery provide high-quality care and superior outcomes,” said Brad Bowman, M.D., chief medical officer, Healthgrades.
