KH . ORG 21 Kootenai Health Foundation staff often hear from community members that they’d like to support the Foundation, but they don’t feel like what they can do now would make an impact. While every donation is appreciated and important, there are ways to make donations that feel significant but involve less or no up-front cash. It takes some forethought, but planned giving is a wonderful way to support charities you care about and create a lasting legacy. Planned giving encompasses gifts left to organizations or other entities through wills, trusts, annuities, stock transfers, and even real estate. These types of gifts are often referred to as “legacy gifts.” Every donor has his or her own reason for wanting to leave a legacy gift to their favorite charity. Georgianne Jessen, Kootenai Health Foundation board member, as well as Linda Fournier, former Kootenai Health Foundation board member, have chosen to name Kootenai Health Foundation in their estate plans. Beyond supporting a cause close to the heart, legacy gifts help ensure a better future for that organization and those it serves. For us, it helps ensure access to quality health care for our region.
