QUALITY CARE
LOR I SCHNE I DER

“Quality patient care means doing the right
thing, at the right time, for the right reason,
every time.”
J EANNE ATHA
Director of Kootenai Cancer Center
“It means following national guidelines and
using state-of-the-art technology. It also means
having competent staff who are caring, friendly
and put the patient first.”
SHARON MADER , R .N.
Post AnesthesiaCareUnit
“I really like to use evidence-based theory and
focus on the standards of care so I can have a
good knowledge base. I also treat the patient
like I would treat a family member. I treat them
how I would want my mother or child treated.
If you do those two things, you’ll have a good
outcome.”
JO PHEN I C I E
Credentialing specialist,medical staff services
“To me, quality patient care means that my
experience is safe; not only physically but
spiritually and emotionally as well. Each per-
son possesses unique qualities and deserves
to be treated so.”

introduce themselves.
•
Be sure you understand your care.
Your doctor, nurses and other care
providers welcome any and all
questions.
Share
•
Discuss any concerns, discomforts
or fears.
•
Share your health history with the
nurse so your care providers can
best treat you.
•
Let your providers know how your
hospital stay could be better.
Prevent infection
•
Remind staff and visitors to wash
their hands when they enter your
room.
•
Remind visitors not to visit if they
are ill.
•
Remember to cover your cough,
dispose of tissues and wash your
