Oncologist Kevin Mulvey, M.D.,
and Kootenai Health
have a new set of world-renowned colleagues.
Last August, Kootenai joined the Mayo Clinic Care
Network, connecting northern Idaho patients to the
knowledge and expertise of the prestigious Mayo Clinic
in Rochester, Minnesota. The partnership allows doctors
at Kootenai Health to connect with Mayo Clinic special-
ists about patient care without anyone needing to travel.
Having access to the Mayo Clinic has already
proven to be an asset to Dr. Mulvey, Kootenai’s medi-
cal director of oncology services. He recently had an
e-consultation for a patient battling amyloidosis, a rare
disease that sees abnormal amyloid proteins disrupt the
function of kidneys, the heart and other vital organs.
Because of the new partnership, Dr. Mulvey had the
opportunity to connect with one of the world’s leading
experts on the disease.
